Since the rush of trying to finish up Christmas presents, I really hadn’t had very good knitting mojo. I decided to do the “Great Cowl Knitalong” from Liz Abinante (designer of the Traveling Woman shawl among others) and it has really helped me stick to a schedule. The last cowl pattern will be released tonight/tomorrow and I am very excited to have made it this far using only yarn from my stash and finishing the patterns on time (which makes the next pattern free)! I’ve decided that after this cowl I want to start finishing up my WIPs that have been sitting around waiting for me. I have 2 sweaters that are nearly complete, along with numerous other projects and it would feel really good to get them done, and it really shouldn’t take me that long!

So, that’s the plan for now. πŸ™‚Β  Here’s to hoping I can finish even more projects this year than the amazing 33 I finished last year!!

We made our first trek to Oklahoma City this year for an annual trade show that Justin’s new company puts on. It was a long, dark drive last Friday night, but we made it to the hotel intact and were just happy to be able to sleep in a little the next morning! His trade show lasted until 3:30 on Saturday, so I dropped him off and then went back to the hotel and knit like a fiend on my purple ‘Springfield Bandit’ shawl, almost finishing it before I had to get us checked out. I headed over to Panera for some lunch (Yum!) then up to the Gourmet Yarn Co on the North side of town. This little shop was amazing! I loved their selection of heavier premium yarns (something lacking here in Springfield) and the size of the shop as well! I looked around and made my little purchase then was happily welcomed to sit and knit until I had to go pick up Justin. Everyone was so nice and genuinely interested in what I was working on and I had one of my best LYS experiences that day. I finished my shawl and was so excited I could barely contain myself! Soon after, Justin called that they were getting out early so I picked him up and we headed for Tulsa.

In Tulsa, we finally got to meet our 4-month old niece, Emily. She is so cute, and such a good, quiet baby! It was great to spend time with my MIL, SIL and her family again and I hope we can meet up again soon.

All-in-all, last weekend’s trip was relaxing and much-needed, even with the long drives and spending $16 on Oklahoma tolls. I’m glad we got to do it, but I am also glad that we don’t have many plans for the next few weeks! I need to get the taxes and some unpacking done! πŸ™‚

Every week? Lolz!

So… that didn’t quite go as planned. How about every month? I’m going to try to update my 2011 Knitting Planner each month to keep myself focused and finish more projects, so hopefully I can remember to do a little blog post.

Things are going really good, hubs & I are both employed again, so that helps! We’ve finally been able to move to a newer, bigger duplex. It’s only 3 years old and has 3 bedrooms, those are the main two things we were looking for. We are hoping to just live out our 18 month lease here and then buy a house next summer. Eek! I’m not sure if this will happen and I’m guessing it will probably take another year.

OK, that’s it for now. Hopefully I can remember to update this in a few weeks when I have some knitting progress done. We are going to Oklahoma City soon as well so I’ll have the scoop on that trip and some yarn stores there as well. πŸ™‚

I’ll leave you with the good thought that Tigger & Daisy are getting along much better now and our little girl has plumped up to an adorable, squishy 11 pounds!

Wow, it seems like forever since I have blogged! I decided to delete my knitting/beading related project posts because those details can be found on Ravelry.

In January I started a new job at Cox Health here in MO, and it is going very well. I actually love going to work 90% of my days and this has been the happiest I’ve been at a job since I moved here. Yay! πŸ™‚

Last month we adopted a new kitten, a 3-yr old girl named Daisy. She is still battling with Tigger for Alpha Cat status but it is fun to have another ‘baby’ around the house. Last month I also turned 30! Yikes! I’m not afraid though. It just makes me ‘older and wiser’… right? πŸ˜‰ My mom sent me a loom for my birthday (24″ Kromski Harp) so I had fun setting that up and starting my first project right before we got Daisy. I haven’t had time lately to weave, being a part of 3 knitalongs, but that will change mid-October and during our Knit Together Springfield retreat Oct 1-4th I am going to let the ladies loose on it and maybe one of them will finish that project for me! πŸ˜€

I am looking forward to the retreat very much, I need to finish up lots of gifts!

That’s all the time I have right now, but I am going to try to update this at least once a week for the rest of the year! Eek! πŸ™‚

Well, I’m moving again! I like the ‘page’ function in WordPress and plan to use it for lists/planning my knitting projects for the year, so I am moving here from Blogger. Please pardon any broken links/pictures and let me know about them if you see any. πŸ™‚

I just moved over a bunch of my MySpace blogs from 2006/2007. Wow! I had a lot to talk about back then. πŸ™‚

I just finished up a test knit for the Oz FFtC club, will post a pic once the members all get their pattern so I don’t ruin the surprise. πŸ™‚ It was very hard, but fun!!

I have sold & traded bunches of yarn… but haven’t finished too many more projects. I’m hoping to get a few more done soon and then I’ll make a couple of posts with some pics for anyone who actually reads this. πŸ™‚

Because I’m bored.
